Apps & Navigation
The container everything else lives in — and the boundary access is granted on.
What an App is
An App holds the tables, pages, Forms and Flows that belong to one job: Purchasing, Asset Register, Admissions. It gives them one sidebar, one home page, and one list of people who can open them.
The boundary matters more than the container. Access is granted per App, so building one does not expose everything else you have built — which is what makes it safe to let several teams build their own.
Publish and preview
An app is a draft until you publish it. Before you do, preview it as a viewer or a member: you see exactly what they will, including the empty grid a policy you forgot about would leave them with.
Tip: Preview is clamped to what you yourself are authorised on, so previewing cannot be used to see an app you have no grant for.
What an App is not
- It is not a tenant. Workspace admins see every app, and shared tables can be depended on by several apps at once.
- It has no custom domain. Public links are stepbase URLs carrying your workspace's branding.
- How many apps you can have is a plan limit.
